Conveyancing
Buying Your First Home: What You Should Know
If you're buying your first home, the Irish conveyancing process can seem a bit daunting. It is a complex process, and your solicitor can help you through all the many phases of residential conveyancing in Ireland.
One of the many frequently asked questions about the conveyancing process by new home buyers is: why does the process take so long. Indeed, there is a lot of waiting involved in the process. Much of the time is spent by the various agencies through which buyers, sellers, and solicitors have to go through to get permission for planning (if building), and to properly register all the necessary documents.
Another aspect of the conveyancing process that takes quite a lot of time is the communication that has to take place between all the parties and companies involved. Your solicitor has to communicate with the seller's solicitor, your lender, the Land Registry, and many other entities. It is an important part of the Irish conveyancing process: it makes certain that everyone has the most current information and is "on the same page," as the saying goes.
The most important thing to remember about the conveyancing process is that your solicitor is there to explain every part of the process to you, to help you understand the many different aspects of conveyancing, and to help you understand the fees associated with conveyancing.
Buying a new house is exciting, but all the waiting can make it very frustrating. It's important to remember while you're waiting, though, that all the waiting means that work is being done, and, soon, you will be the proud owner of your first home.
